Two Instances of Permaculture in Urban Settings: Urban Food Forests

Permaculture gardens with a variety of edible perennials make up food forests. They have mostly been used in small-scale farms and backyard gardens up until recently. Learn how two urban community food forests are redefining the local food scene in their individual towns in this article.
What does urban permaculture look like?

While visiting the west coast of the United States, my family and I recently had the opportunity to explore several community food forests. They serve as live examples of how permaculture ideas can be implemented in both large-scale farms and urban areas.

The two food forests I highlight below both adhere to the three-permaculture ethics in a comparable manner.

Ethics of Permaculture

Earth Care: Take good care of the planet and its natural riches. Native Americans, for instance, abide by the rule that any choice they make must take seven generations' worth of effects into account. By creating robust, regenerative systems and making prudent use of what we already have, we can take care of the planet.
People Care: Provide for, inform, and shield people. This ethic, for instance, is against the way that certain large-scale farms mistreat migrant laborers. We can build sustainable agriculture systems and become more self-sufficient rather than depending on large, vested businesses.
Equitable Part - Part surpluses.
