Gotu Kola Seeds Take 2–8 Weeks — Warm Moist Soil Method
You plant Gotu Kola seeds, keep the tray warm, mist it every day, and still see nothing but damp soil for weeks. That can feel confusing when a seed packet costs around $5–$15 and most common herbs sprout much faster, but Gotu Kola often germinates slowly and unevenly.
- Step 1: Expect Gotu Kola seeds to germinate in about 2–4 weeks in warm, consistently moist soil, with some slow batches taking 4–8 weeks.
- Step 2: Keep soil temperature around 70–85°F / 21–29°C using a warm room or a $15–$30 seedling heat mat if indoor temperatures are cool.
- Step 3: Surface sow the tiny seeds or cover them with only about 1/16 inch of fine seed-starting mix so they are not buried too deeply.
- Step 4: Keep the seed tray evenly moist with a humidity dome, light misting, or bottom watering, and avoid letting the surface dry out.
- Step 5: Watch for scattered tiny sprouts starting around days 14–28, then gradually increase airflow once seedlings appear.
The Result
With warm soil, steady moisture, shallow sowing, and humidity, Gotu Kola seedlings usually appear in 2–4 weeks, though slow trays may need up to 8 weeks before you can fairly judge germination.
