Hemp rope bracelet no-tool knot tutorial - ASMR tie natural cordage DIY
Let’s begin. Take your length of natural hemp cord. Feel its gentle, fibrous texture between your fingertips. It has a dry, earthy scent. We will need a piece about four times the circumference of your wrist. To measure without a tool, wrap the cord loosely around your wrist four full times, listening to the soft, whispery scrape of the fibers. Add a little extra, about the length of your hand, just to be safe. Find the end and hold it.

Now, take both ends of the cord and bring them together, letting the cord hang to find its exact middle point. A gentle thump as it settles. Pinch this middle point. We are going to create the loop for our clasp. Fold the cord at this midpoint, creating a loop about the size of your thumbnail. Just below this loop, tie a simple overhand knot using both strands together. Pass the loop through the circle you’ve made with the cord, and pull. Listen to the fibers creak and tighten into a secure knot. You should now have a small loop at the top with two long strands hanging down. This is our starting point.
Place the loop over one of your fingers to hold it steady. You have two strands. Let's call these the core strands. Now, take the full length of the remaining cord. Find its middle and place it underneath the two core strands, right up against the knot you just made. You now have four strands hanging down: two in the middle (the core) and one on the left and one on the right (the working cords).
We will now begin the main knot, a sound you will come to know well. Take the left working cord and cross it over the top of the two core cords, forming a shape like the number four. The cord makes a soft shhh sound against the others. Now, take the right working cord. Pass it over the tail of the left cord. Then, guide it underneath the two core cords and bring it up through the loop you made on the left side. Hold both the left and right working cords and pull them outwards, horizontally. Listen. A quiet, satisfying zzzzzip as the knot cinches up against the base. That is your first knot.
For the next knot, we do the opposite. Take the right working cord and cross it over the two core cords, creating a backward number four. Take the left working
