Preserving Our AncestorsHeritage
Understanding the heart Responsibility
Be aware that we are preserving the precious heritage of our ancestors and are responsible for passing them on to our children.
Never have the word "responsibility" been reminded as much as it is now. Although the newspapers complain every day, it does not seem to stir people's hearts to the so-called commons.
The gross pragmatism makes people not only unwilling to take responsibility for what they inherit, but also blatantly contributing to the destruction. They think that only money, power, or lust are the things that matter. But if they stop using water or air, will they survive to pursue those things? Remember that economics is also non-economic. The economy cannot be present and sustainable when other sectors are weakened.
Love is also selfless. Love is also made of non-loving things. That is, there is no such thing as love, if it stands alone. However, when working in economics or in love, people are willing to let go of the intimately attached elements around them, forget all their responsibilities, and live only according to their temporary superficial ego. No wonder why they were still miserable after all.
The boom in the market economy has awakened human greed that has been tamed by the moral patterns that our forefathers have built and preserved for thousands of years. Now, most people live in a state of insecurity. But not because of lack of food or clothing, but because of ignorance. They think that without having the same comforts as others, they cannot be happy. Therefore, whenever they see the interest, they jump in to capture immediately, despite the tricks. They forget that the universe is inherently fair. Many times when we try harder than lose or squeeze others, maybe the universe will withdraw our feelings or health. If we cultivate common things, the universe will give us unexpected gifts. The universe is not a supreme power. It is the sum of the energy of all visible and intangible things, which are constantly operating according to the principles of cause and effect. When we open our hearts to other objects or to the common, we will inevitably connect with that great potential energy.
So our ancestors used to advise, "Have the virtue to eat." If we live responsibly, the universe will feed us for life. I will become the darling of the universe. In fact, responsibility is also a right. It converts from the form of effort or money, to another, nobler form of energy, but must have "non-calculated" energy as the agent.
Currently, there are many issues that are in a state of crying out for people's sense of responsibility. These are a series of gutted constructions, the commercialization of schools, the ruthless greed for forging goods and food, the competition to build nuclear weapons to encroach on territory, or the many corruption cases that lead to national economic exhaustion that make people live in misery. It takes due attention from the Government or the United Nations to hope to prevent it. As for the environmental situation, although it is also at an alarming level of "danger", each individual can contribute to changing that situation positively right now.
The environment is our mother, our home. If it had any destiny, we would have no place to live and survive. Let us look at the environment in which we live with a sober and knowledgeable eye to see the reality clearly.
Nylon bag problems: Nylon bags are made from PVC. When burned it produces dioxins that are highly toxic, causing shortness of breath and vomiting blood, lowering immunity, creating symptoms of cancer or birth defects. Using colored plastic bags to store food can easily contaminate food with metals such as lead, cadmium(1) contributes to cerebral palsy and causes lung cancer. When plastic bags are thrown down the drain, it will clog the drainage systems, creating conditions for mosquitoes and diseases to arise. If it is mixed in the soil, the grass cannot grow and leads to erosion in hilly areas.
In Wales, in southwestern England, around 480 million plastic bags are thrown away each year. This type of bag takes thousands of years to decompose. The Welsh government announced the practice would limit the use of plastic bags in 2011, they would tax 15 cents on each plastic bag used. The proceeds will go towards environmental protection projects. While in Ireland it has been applied since 2002, also 15 cents for 1 plastic bag and they have collected 109 million pounds (about 153 million US dollars). The number of plastic bags used has since decreased by 90% and the cost of garbage disposal has also dropped markedly. In Saigon, about 5 million plastic bags, equivalent to 35 tons, are consumed every day, mainly in supermarkets.
Currently, Germany, France and the Netherlands are using bags made from potato starch or paper that can be biodegradable after 3 months. In the past, grandparents used lotus leaves, banana leaves to pack goods or carry baskets to the market. That image is rudimentary, but it is a very safe and knowledgeable way of life. It is time to return to relearning the "civilized soul" of tradition, less chasing the lavish comforts that always make us tired and insecure. Let's practice using only cloth bags, rattan bags, or anything that is not toxic to the environment to store goods when going to the market. Don't wait for the Government to warn or fine before you do it. It will be too late to save the blue planet.
Paper problems: Forests are crucial to our survival. Thanks to the wide spread of foliage, rainwater does not flush directly into the ground, so the surface soil is difficult to wash away with rainwater, and the sun does not burn the ground. Forests not only protect the soil but also increase the fertility of the soil, serving as a storage source for water to flow leisurely to feed rivers during the absence of rain. Therefore, areas with forest cover will reduce drought. Forests also have the function of causing floods to reduce their attack level suddenly. Most importantly, forests have absorbed CO2 emissions from car and factory fumes, to release oxygen to supply human lungs. The forest is our mother's lung.
One of the big reasons why tens of thousands of forests keep falling is the production of paper. For every 1 ton of finished paper, 5 m3 of wood and 100 m3 of water are required. It would not be an exaggeration to say that if the forest falls, we will fall too. From now on, we should practice minimizing the use of paper towels, instead we use cloth towels to wipe our mouths or towels to wipe our hands. Even paper cups or cups, we should only use them in case of force majeure, not continue to consider it an appropriate convenient way. Reusing the old way is a bit laborious, but it both counteracts our lazy easy habit and prevents us from becoming an indirect culprit of destroying countless verdant forests.
For paper used in study or office, it should also be used to the fullest. At least use both sides before leaving. A few decades ago, we used to gather old school yearbook books as "small plans" to buy volumes for the next school year. At that time, anyone who made kites with practice paper was considered luxurious. Economic development has made us full of everything, but since then we have become wasteful, forgetting many very basic life principles to preserve health and sublimate the value of the soul.
Water problems: When the forest falls or the air is poisoned, the clean water source will also gradually run out. Currently, about 1/6 of the world's population does not have access to clean water, and every year more than 2 million people, most of them children, die from thirst or water-related diseases. In fact, over the past 30 years, the demand for clean water has exceeded its capacity. While a few countries are trying to set up saltwater purification plants, most continue to spray toxic pesticides, dump waste from the livestock industry into water sources or use water wastefully. Environmental protection associations around the world predict that in about 50 years, people of this whole planet will suffer from chronic drought and have to collect every drop of water to drink, if it continues to waste or pollute water sources like today.
We must not forget that we lived through periods of "burning thirst". We have to stay up late at night to collect buckets of water from the village well to use for the whole family during the day. That tragedy is still ongoing in Africa or parts of Asia, and globally in the future. At that time, even if we had a lot of money, we could not buy water, because the water was polluted and left us far away. Even now, in some places, water is under the control of a few business corporations and it has become an expensive commodity behind electricity and petrol. This means that the poor will not be allowed to use clean water. While water is inherently the property of nature, everyone has the right to use it and no one has the right to pollute or compete for their own. Therefore, if we do not want this tragedy to happen again to us and our children and grandchildren, we should resolve to save water now.
Every time we brush our teeth, remember to turn off the faucet immediately. In those few mindless minutes, we squandered tens of liters of clean water that could save the lives of some of the world's thirsty children. When washing dishes we should also wash in brass. Don't flush yourself with a few cups, even if you have money to pay each month. The place that wastes the most water in daily activities is in the bathroom. From now on, we should practice limiting the use of bathtubs or showers, instead collecting water in buckets to bathe. This makes it easy to save water, can stop flushing when it's not really needed, and know how much water we use. This is simple, but effective immediately without having to have a policy issued to do it. Future descendants who do not have birth defects, are not barren or die prematurely and can even see the blue of this planet, will be very grateful for our knowledgeable way of life today.
According to the WHO, the World Health Organization, nearly 600,000 people in Asia die each year from air-related respiratory diseases. The leading culprit for this pollution is car fumes. In Beijing there are 2.6 million smoke-spraying cars circulating every day, and this place has been dubbed the car city. 5 in 1 Beijingers own their own car. With a population of nearly 20 million, traffic in Beijing is not only stagnant but also suffocating. In Hong Kong, car smoke always fills the city, so much so that 1/3 of the days of the year people cannot see the streets or ports. In Hanoi, every day a person has to breathe into the lungs about 100mg of extremely toxic PM10 (particulate matter), 5,000mg of CO and 50mg of other emissions such as NO2, SO2 because of car smoke.
Every time we pick up our car keys, ask ourselves over and over again, where are we going? If necessary, let's go. And if we find that purpose is not really justified, let us have the courage to put down the key. Don't be inspired to destroy our own lives and all creatures. In addition, we should also use bicycles, vehicles that run on non-toxic fuels such as electricity, or use public vehicles when possible. This way both saves gasoline and does not contribute to pollution, but also re-absorbs the interaction between yourself and everyone in the community you live in. Picking up a car together is a very beautiful image. It draws us together and breaks with individualism somewhat.
The Meat Problem: The Earth is Warming Up. It is estimated that in the next few years, ice sheets in Iceland and West Antarctica will disintegrate very quickly, causing a sudden rise in sea levels. Not only does it affect half of the world's coastal population, but it also causes billions of tons of methane (CH4) in the dense ice to break apart. This is the main reason why the globe is warming more and more violently and a series of natural disasters will occur such as drought, increased heat, desertification, subsidence, dead seas, wildlife extinction and serious human health collapse.
The world is on alert for the greenhouse effect and making great efforts to reduce emissions in industry and transport. But it took a long time for the situation to improve, because it involved the interests of many profiteering corporations or authoritarian and corrupt political machinery. While pure vegetarianism, i.e. all food is plant-based, is an immediate solution for each individual and highly effective in cooling the globe. Because livestock contributes more than 50% of methane waste to this atmosphere. In addition, it is the rapid increase in cattle breeding for meat in recent years that has caused many dangerous diseases to appear. Is it since people indulge in elaborate dishes taken from the lives of all kinds of animals, is it also time for people to lose the noble tolerance of a senior?
With the responsibility of a child, let us promise Mother Nature:
1- Aware that throwing away plastic bags poisons Mother Nature because it takes thousands of years to decompose, I vow to only use cloth bags to store goods when going to the market.
2- Aware that if the forest falls, I cannot breathe and will fall too, I vow to use cups, cups or tissues only in cases where there is no other way.
3- Aware that natural water resources are gradually depleting and millions of people are dying of thirst in the world, I vow to save every sip of water even when bathing.
4- Aware that car smoke pollutes the air, creates acid rains that kill forests, damage water sources, I vow to drive only for really legitimate purposes, and will try to use public vehicles when possible.
5- Aware that raising cattle for meat causes many dangerous diseases, waste makes the earth hotter, leading to natural disasters and people increasingly lose the love that is very noble for all species, I pray to fast regularly to contribute to the soothing and preservation of common life.
For the sake of love and understanding, Mother Nature, I would like to voluntarily conclude these five treaties. I am aware that I am preserving the very precious heritage of my ancestors and have a responsibility to pass it on to my children. You cannot let their hearts be poor and lost and go into the future. If this hand continues to inflict toxic energy that destroys common life, you will be guilty of the forefathers and of the universe. From now on, I promise to try to keep my hands clean to carry my children and grandchildren forward.
Hold your hands for your
ancestors
Pass them on to your descendants
