The Importance of Recharging and Unwinding

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

This is a tough one for me… I do love a good lazy day but I struggle with not being productive. Yet, I know how important it is to recharge and unwind.

I love down time. Time to sit, relax, enjoy a cup or two of tea and not have anywhere to be or a schedule to follow. However, if I sit too long or there are things left to be done the guilt sets in. It’s a real struggle.

If, by some chance, I’m lucky enough to be at the beach, lazy days are a must! With that said, I do still get up, tidy up, fix breakfast, prep lunch (to eat at the beach) and start a load of laundry before heading to sit and stare at God’s beautiful handiwork. My view for the day is pure motivation. When things are complete, laziness doesn’t feel so bad.

Resting is vital to our health, mental and physical. Not getting enough rest or sleep can affect our immune system, our eating habits, as well as our cognitive abilities. As I’ve aged this has become a reality… I guess aging is God’s reminder we need to rest more often.

The struggle is real!
