Bath Bomb Recipe with Flowers

Pretty floral bath bombs surrounded by flower petals.

For me, the spring and summer months are filled with gardening, landscaping, hiking, camping, bicycling, and swimming, which is why I often find myself in need of something beyond a shower. Ahh, a relaxing and muscle-soothing bathing experience is really what the "Doctor ordered". As silly as it seems now, I used to think that baths were only for the fall and winter months. However, when I started incorporating more seasonal elements into this precious self-care time, it opened up a fun new way to bring the power of plants to bath time while helping my body recover from the exertion of warm-weather activities.

One of the recipes that checks all the self-care boxes for me is floral bath bombs. The scent is divine, and it makes soaking my hard-working body all the more enjoyable. They are also easy to make in advance, they store well, and they’re wonderful to have on hand for yourself or anyone that might need a little TLC.

I hope that this recipe allows you to take on more adventures and labors of love this spring and summer and that it brings you (and your loved ones) comfort as you soak in the pure plant magic of flowers.

Floral Bath Bomb Recipe
Makes about 4 medium bombs.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Thoroughly mix baking soda and citric acid together in a bowl, being sure to break up clumps.
  2. Add optional flowers of choice until fully blended. Set aside.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together sunflower oil and essential oils.
  4. While stirring constantly, slowly pour oil mixture into dry ingredients.
  5. Once incorporated, slowly mist the mixture with witch hazel while stirring. When you are able to clump the mixture in your hands without it falling apart, it is ready to shape. (Be sure not to over-saturate).
  6. You can use bath bomb molds, measuring cups, or even your hands to form the bombs.
  7. Place on parchment paper to dry for two days.
  8. Store in airtight, dry storage containers until use.

Pro Tips:

  • Hand-formed bombs will flatten as they dry. If the shape isn't important to you, hand-formed bath bombs are the easiest to create.
  • If you want the flowers to be on the top like the ones in the photo, sprinkle flowers in the bottom of your mold and then add the mixture. You can include more flowers in the mixture, or just use them for a garnish for the top.
  • If you put these in a large tea ball before dropping them in your tub, you will keep the flowers contained and there won't be petals to clean out of the tub after.
