German Chamomile Seed Germination & Seedling FAQ

Why aren't my German chamomile seeds germinating?

German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) seeds need light to germinate. Scatter them on the surface of moist, well-draining seed-starting mix and press gently for soil contact. Do not bury them. Keep the surface consistently moist, not waterlogged. In suitable warm conditions, emergence is often within about a week, but timing varies.

My chamomile seeds sprouted, but the seedlings stopped growing. What should I check?

  1. Light: Check whether the seedlings receive adequate bright light; adjust grow lights or the growing position as needed.
  2. Moisture: Avoid both a dried-out surface and constantly saturated soil.
  3. Drainage: Use a free-draining seed-starting mix and a container with drainage holes.
  4. Airflow: Provide gentle ventilation and avoid persistently damp conditions around stems.

If seedlings collapse at the soil line, consider damping-off rather than assuming they simply need fertilizer. Symptoms alone do not establish a diagnosis.

Should I fertilize slow-growing chamomile seedlings?

Not automatically. Check light, moisture and drainage first. German chamomile does not usually require heavy fertilization.

Is German chamomile the same as Roman chamomile?

No. German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is generally grown as an annual; Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is a perennial. This listing is for German chamomile seeds, not live plants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do your products come from? +

Source, origin, cultivar, certification, and processing details vary by product and supplier. Use the individual product page as the source of truth. When a botanical name, country of origin, organic status, non-GMO status, or other certification has been verified for that SKU, we state it there. If a detail is not listed, treat it as unverified rather than assumed.

What is your return policy? +

Our current refund policy allows unused items to be returned within 30 days of delivery. Damaged or defective items can be reported within 60 days. See the Refund Policy for current terms, exclusions, and return instructions.

How long does shipping take? +

U.S. delivery is typically estimated at 4–10 business days after processing, but delivery dates are not guaranteed. Shipping methods, charges, and any free-shipping promotion or threshold are shown at checkout. See the Shipping Policy for current details.

Can I use these products for food or cooking? +

Do not assume an item is food-grade or intended for culinary use based only on its category. Check the individual product page. If culinary or food use is explicitly stated for that SKU, follow the product-specific directions. Planting seeds are intended for growing, not consumption, unless the product page specifically states otherwise.

Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing? +

Bulk and wholesale availability varies by product. Visit our Wholesale & Bulk Orders page to request current pricing or submit an inquiry.
